Details

Cost & Registration

Alumni Band Day activities are included in your annual Pitt Band Alumni Council dues of $40.00 which are payable upon online registration. This includes the game admission and tailgate. Dues and a complimentary cotton polo will be provided to first-year graduates (last 12 months) who register, free of charge. Registration will be open through Thursday, October 23. Attendance is not guaranteed for those who do not pre-register.

There will be a check-in table at the tailgate before the game. All registrants, including Colorguard and Golden Girls, must check in upon arrival. Registered participants will be provided with a polo (if ordered), drill details, music (paper or electronic access), and drink tickets at this time.

Attire

The expected attire for the day is:

  1. a current Pitt Band Alumni polo in the Pitt Royal and Pitt Gold colors (first used in 2019),
  2. black pants or shorts without holes or tears (no “athleisure” wear), and
  3. dark-colored shoes.
Cotton polos can be ordered with registration for $10.00 (free for first-year graduates) or brought from a previous year. Sizes are first-come, first-served with distribution at the tailgate ONLY; no size reservations will be made. Golf polos previously ordered from a PBAC webstore are also welcome. Either must be in the current Pitt Royal and Pitt Gold colors (first used in 2019). Golden Girls and colorguard will wear their designated outfit instead of the polo.

These are expected to be the only Pitt Band Alumni apparel items that will be permitted on the field. In the event of anticipated adverse weather impacts, these “uniform” rules may be somewhat relaxed at PBAC's discretion, which will be communicated to registrants closer to the event date.

While not required, participants are also permitted to wear their own Pitt hat or ballcap in the current colors. You are also encouraged to wear underneath your “uniform” whatever other gear is comfortable and gets you into the Game Day spirit!

Instruments

Bring your instrument. Cases can be dropped off for storage on the truck until 80 minutes before kickoff, and can be picked up beginning in the third quarter.

We will also have limited instruments available to borrow on the day of the game. For anyone planning to borrow an instrument, PLEASE let us know on your registration form by Monday, October 13. We may not be able to honor requests received after this date as our supplies are limited and we need to know how many to load onto our truck. Note, however, that we are very short on mouthpieces and reeds, so please bring your own if at all possible.

Logistics

Pregame Concert, 2 hours before kickoff

Location: Steps outside of Gate A

The pregame concert with the varsity band will occur outside of Gate A. We will play the music for the day with the varsity band. You can download the music if you want to preview or print it (password is hailtopitt). This performance is optional.

Login information for using your smartphone as a flip folder will be provided at check-in; limited paper copies of music will also be available. PBAC will not be providing smartphone lyres (known as “eFlip” devices) to registrants, but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one. You can purchase eFlips at TonalInnovation.com, and download the smartphone app on the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play (for Android).

Parade Into Stadium, line-up 70 minutes before kickoff, step-off 60 minutes before kickoff

Location: Corner of Tony Dorsett Dr and General Robinson St, near the truck

In order to get into the game, you MUST either:

  1. Participate in the parade and march into the stadium with the band and alumni
  2. Meet the end of the parade at Gate 5, at the northeast corner of Acrisure Stadium, where the band marches in, wearing your black pants and the current Pitt Band Alumni polo, or your respective Golden Girl or Colorguard attire
  3. Have your own ticket and meet the alumni inside

Halftime

We will join the varsity band for the Pitt Fight song portion of the halftime show. The music will be Victory, Hail to Pitt, and the Alma Mater, as well as another selection TBA.

You will be able to download the music ahead of time if you want to preview or print it (password is hailtopitt).

Postgame

During the third quarter, someone from PBAC will be manning the truck so that you can get cases, etc. if you need to leave early. Note that there is no re-entry to Acrisure Stadium once you exit. We also plan to have light refreshments following the conclusion of the game and continuing for approximately 45–60 minutes.

Policies

Photo Policy

Photos may be taken over the course of Alumni Band Day. Participants acknowledge that said photos may contain their image, and may be used in media published by the Pitt Band Alumni Council or for future promotion of events related to Pitt Band alumni.

Conduct Policy

By participating in Alumni Band Day, participants agree to proudly represent the University of Pittsburgh and the Pitt Band Alumni by exercising appropriate behavior, cooperating with all Pitt Band staff and PBAC volunteers, and adhering to Acrisure Stadium game day policies. Any failure to do so can jeopardize the future of this event, and may result in a participant's immediate dismissal from Alumni Band Day and/or future PBAC events.

Alcohol Policy

Due to PBAC utilizing an outside vendor to serve alcoholic beverages at this event, no outside alcohol is permitted at the PBAC tailgate. This is a zero tolerance policy. If you are caught with outside alcohol at the tailgate, you will be dismissed from the event and all participation in Alumni Band Day activities for the day, at minimum. No refunds will be given in the event of violations of this policy. This is to ensure the safety of all participants and the sustainability of this event.

While participants are permitted to consume alcohol offered for sale within the stadium during the game, we strongly encourage exercising moderation and expect full adherence to the Conduct Policy throughout the entire event.
